SCENIC DESIGNER, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, AND MAKER

Howdy! I'm Brad LaMotte, an Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at Nebraska Wesleyan University. I teach Stagecraft, Introduction to Theatrical Design, Scenery & Properties Design, and Production Design I-IV.

In my teaching, I prioritize building real relationships with students. That connection creates a classroom where everyone feels valued and supported, free to explore creatively without fear of judgment. I want students of every background and way of thinking to feel welcome, and I give them room to experiment and grow.

I keep things approachable and light-hearted, with enough humor to make the design process genuinely fun. Students learn best when they feel comfortable expressing themselves, and I try to build that comfort into every class.

Originally from Central Texas, I now call Nebraska home with my two daughters. Outside the classroom and theatre, I build furniture, work with wood, and put on fireworks displays for Texans with Illumination Fireworks.
